The Accountant General is assisted by 3 Group Officers from the Indian Audit and Accounts Service of the level of Senior Time Scale/Junior Administrative grade and one Welfare Officer. The (A&E) office has got four distinct functional groups viz., Administration, Accounts, Provident Fund and Pension.

Each wing is headed by the Group Officers viz. Deputy Accountant General/Senior Deputy Accountant General. The welfare of the staff and the office maintenance, liaison with Central Public Works Department etc. are entrusted to the Welfare Officer, who directly reports to the Accountant General. The Accountant General directly supervises the Complaint Cell and the Internal Test Audit Wing.
